Earth, water & fire are the essentials of both the kitchen & the pottery process. They are the elements that produce our food & the plates from which we eat. Here, at Mud & More, we recognise that Pablo Picasso was right when her said: ‘Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life’. Our belief is that Art elevates the senses and allows you to see beyond your immediate circumstances, it washes away the dust. It all starts with mud but can lead to so much more.
Mud & More is an inclusive, Arts based, Community Interest Company that was founded to serve the people of Teesdale and beyond. We are mainly mud based, think pottery, growing your own food, cooking, woodworking (trees grow in mud) and much more. We believe that the ability to be creative is an important part of relieving stress and increasing well-being, any type of art activity has this effect. As a community based enterprise we aim to foster connection through a shared passion to create, irrespective of ability, identity or background. Everyone will be made very welcome at our studio. We promise everyone can ‘do’ pottery, it has a way of making you want to do more.
What do we do?
We provide a safe, creative space where you can explore different art mediums, access a variety of workshops and explore the pottery process. We also hire workshop space for artists to deliver workshops or for their own process. Please email you enquiries, reasonable rates offered, full disabled parking and facilities.
We offer a variety of pottery classes, on an open studio basis, sessions can be booked via the booking system. Beginners always welcome, no experience necessary, we will guide you through the ten essential steps that see you take a lump of clay and turn it into fired ceramics. Independent potters always welcome, please feel free to arrange a visit so you can see our facilities. Group sessions & visits can be arranged and organised around individual needs, please contact us to discuss.
